ELECTRICAL INSPECTION CONDITION REPORT (pir)

Electrical Testing reports suitable for business, homeowners and landlords

Periodic & Electrical Testing from only £140

The EICR was formerly known as PIR- Periodic Inspection Report, but because problems existed with the old system, the new EICR became mandatory at the beginning of 2012.

There are electrical contractors that are not aware of the change and still issuing old PIR certificates which are no longer valid and will not be accepted by insurance companies in the event of a claim.

A periodic (electrical test) inspection will:

  • Reveal if any of your electrical circuits or equipment are overloaded.

  • Find any potential electric shock risks and fire hazards.

  • Identify any defective electrical work.

  • Highlight any lack of earthing or bonding.

How often is an Electrical Installation Condition Report required? Your electrics should be inspected and tested every:

  • 10 years for an owner-occupied home.

  • When selling your home

  • 5 years for a rented home.

  • 3 years for a caravan

  • 1 year for a swimming pool.

Other times when a periodic inspection (electrical testing) should be carried out are:

  • When a property is being prepared for letting.

  • Before selling a property or buying a previously-occupied property.

ECW Electricians upon completion of the electrical testing will then issue an Electrical Installation Condition Report detailing any observed damage, deterioration, defects, dangerous conditions and any non-compliances with the present-day safety standard that might give rise to danger.

Prices. Our very competitive prices for Periodic Inspection Reports (PIR) and now renamed and known as Electrical Installation Condition Reports’ (EICR) start from only £99.00. Please email or call for an appointment or to discuss your electrical testing requirements.
